-- 58 year old joseph campbell -- entered a dicks sporting goods just after 7 pm on saturday. he pointed a handgun at a worker and demanded an unlocked shotgun and ammunition. campbell then took the shotgun and locked himself in the bathroom. the store and nearby businesses were evacuated during the four-hour long standoff. a small plane crash in indiana has killed two people and injured several others. authorities say the jet crashed into at least three houses this afternoon. the f-a-a says two of the four people on board died -- and three people were taken to the hosptial with non life-threatening injuries. the pilot reported a problem with electrical power on approach to the airport. investigators say the jet took off from tulsa, oklahoma and went down about eight miles from the south bend regional airport. the department of defense is releasing the names of the five service members that were killed last monday in afghanistan when their helicopter went down. they are staff sergeant marc ski-aldo. staff sergeant steven blass. chief warrant officer bryan henderson. specialist zachary sh
. >>> good morning. welcome to mornings on 2. i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. we're following developing news out of south bay where traffic is affected after a deadly hit and run overnight. the accident happened around 3:00 this morning on interstate 280 near the mclaughlin exit. that's where we find our report with just how long drivers can expect delays. good morning. >>> good morning. two moms mom -- lanes are still closed. cal tran has taken ahold of this situation. a pedestrian was hit and killed here. this has turned into a biohazard situation. it was a gruesome seen out here and there was body fluid on the freeway. cal tran said is needs to be cleaned up. here you can look out at traffic that is backed up here in the southbound lanes of 280. again, it's right in the middle of the commute. it could be like this until 10:00 a.m. let's go to video later this morning. this all happened at 3:15. someone called 911 after seeing a body of a woman crumpled on a freeway. they used their car to stop other cars from running over the body. drivers stopped to help, but no other --
'm tori campbell. it's monday, march 25th. a car involved in a high-speed chase may also be tied to an armed robbery and two shootings. tara moriarty is live in hayward at the scene of one of those crimes. with details on the chase also and possible gun connections. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. this is where police say an innocent bystander could have been killed. he's doing okay. the police believe the suspects could have been linked to an armed robbery in san jose. here's the intersection where the drive-by shooting happened and police were led on a wild chase through three east bay cities late last night. our cameras caught the chase north through 880. police tried to pull the driver other in hayward for dui and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> th

, campbell, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> welcome back at 4:41. three people are under arrest following a daring but brief prison escape. authorities say two men were hoisted out of a prison in canada on a rope dangling from a helicopter. they were dropped next to a waiting car. police caught up with a man in an hour and they arrested two suspected politicians. the second man surrendered early this morning. investigators say he was forced to take part in the escape. >> not the typical beach fine. $4 million worth of marijuana on a santa barbara beach. authorities found 2,000 pounds of marijuana yesterday. the sheriff deputies made the discovery. here is a picture of the marijuana, 50 plastic wrapped bales. authorities are testing the drugs and other evidence and the boat which investigators believe was used to smuggle the drugs. early this month, $1 million worth of marijuana was found near the air force base. >> pope francis officially takes over the job during ceremonies tomorrow, he faces major challenges in the court and questions of his past. here is that report. >> he ha

saying the nation's bioterrorism labs are not secure. ktvu's kyla campbell in our washington, d.c. newsroom. you've been reading the report. are any california labs in that report? >> reporter: well, dave, uc berkeley does have what's considered a high biotrirm lab one the report released from the government accountability office does not single out anything. the deal with bioterrorism weapons have not been implemented. the department of agriculture and the centers for disease control monitor the inspections for these labs. the government accountability recommended creating a new single entity to watch over these labs but the federal government says it's not in the best interest of national security to use money and other resources that way. the government accountability office found two main failures with safety and security at some of those 350 labs around the country. we'll dig deeper into those so- called failures when i see you next hour. kyla campbell, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> well, "new york times" reports the cia has been helping arab

campbell. >> and good morning. i'm dave clark. >>> in overnight news, a man is in the hospital with a neck wound from a bar stabbing. it happened after a st. paddy's day party in alameda. police say he was stabbed at scobee's on central avenue on central boulevard. tara moriarty has more. >> reporter: neighbors are not surprised at all by this. they say every weekend the partying gets out of control and they hope the bar owner faces consequences. just a few moments ago, the crews arrived, they cleaned up the blood off the sidewalk. they are still working at it right now. in front of the doctor's office there at park. this fight broke out at 2:00 in the morning inside the bar and moved into the street. police say there was a group of two to three people in a heated argument with two or three others and someone pulled what we believe is a knife and slashed the victim's throat. one other person was also injured, war -- we're told. neighbors are disgusted. >> i don't know why they are serving people when they are clearly intoxicated to the point
